Best Defense Against COVID-19 in Your Home

Best defense against COVID-19

COVID-19 or Coronavirus is the topic of conversation everywhere you go. Warnings or the virus are omnipresent on your social media feeds and in the news. With all the media hype and talk of the pandemic, now, more than ever, it’s important that everyone remains calm and takes the necessary steps to prevent catching the Coronavirus and or spreading it.

As you have well heard by now, the best defense in protecting yourself from COVID-19 is regular hand washing and social isolation. These two things alone can help keep you and your family safe. Oh, and just a side-note, toilet paper won’t help since this is an upper respiratory disease!

The spread of COVID-19 is primarily from invisible respiratory droplets that pass through the air when a contagious person coughs or sneezes and others inhale these droplets. These droplets however also land on surfaces and when a person touches the surface, then their eyes, nose or mouth, they can become infected.

Knowing this, it would make good sense to clean the surfaces in our home to help stop the spread of the virus. Wipe down countertops, door handles, light switches, your phones, etc. There are many cleaning products that you can use to help you protect you against COVID-19 in your home. You can use bleach, hydrogen peroxide, disinfectant wipes, disinfectant sprays or a combination of all. If you prefer a more natural cleaner try vinegar or tea tree oil.

Again, taking some simple measures can have a great impact on preventing the spread of the Coronavirus. Keep in mind that I’m not a doctor or an infectious disease expert. I’m a REALTOR simply sharing with you some of the knowledge I have gained through my own research. For expert advice, I recommend speaking with a medical professional and reviewing the Canadian government’s public health services website for symptoms and treatment.

In the meantime, stay calm, take basic precautions, and disinfect your home as best you can.
